Yesterday I made the trip to Dorchester to interview NHS Dorset Designated Nurse Consultant Wendy Thorogood. This is completely unrelated to my documentary but how pretty is Dorchester?! I didn't expect it to be so quaint and cute!
I started my 'Behind the Scenes' video yesterday whilst travelling. Although I've chosen radio as my specialism, as a Multimedia Journalism student, I love visuals and video editing so I thought I'd create a short 'montagey' video to go alongside my documentary. It'll show the viewer the travelling and work that went into making 'The Cut.'
Wendy was a pleasure to interview, she talked about her first hand experience with FGM whilst working in South Africa.
We discussed the types of FGM, it's dangers and what medical professionals should be doing. She even gave me handouts with lots of information regarding NHS policies and the names of FGM clinics across the UK. This will help so much when it comes to writing my script and cues.
